Laser Hair Removal

Modern lasers can remove unwanted hair with more speed, accuracy and comfort that the other conventional methods, replacing or used in combination with electrolysis. It has revolutionized the hair removal process and since it is a non-invasive procedure, the risk of infection is greatly reduced. Many follicles are treated at one time; decreasing the amount of time needed and the accuracy of the treatment is increased over other methods due to a more controlled apparatus.

The laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light, which is absorbed by the melanin, located in hair follicles. It pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to disable the follicle and eliminate the ability of the follicle to reproduce another hair.

Yet, not all lasers are the same- and neither are those who use them! All procedures performed by trained, experienced therapists and overseen by Vickie Mickey, the Dean of Laser Hair Removal.
ABOUT FACE uses the Candela™ laser with GentleLASE® and GentleYAG™ systems. These state-of-the-art systems have special contact cooling tips that soothe and protect the surrounding skin, while bringing the laser energy as close as possible to the hair root. Because of this, they are the most effective, sophisticated method of hair removal. This treatment is more reliable and comfortable- delicate enough for a woman's fine, sensitive skin, yet robust enough for a mans beard, back or arms.

"Unlike many of the lasers being used, our ND-YAG laser system allows us to remove unwanted hair for clients with all types and shades of skin and is a very safe and effective course of treatment." -Vickie Mickey, CT and laser hair removal specialist at ABOUT FACE.

The treated areas appearance immediately following a treatment session will vary, depending on the individual; however after-effects are minor and disappear quickly, allowing you to return to your daily activities right away.

It is important to note that you must be seen by a physician before your procedure can be scheduled. And, before you schedule your treatment, you will be provided a free personal consultation to review all aspects of your treatment— including before and after treatment instruction— and to answer any questions you may have.
